Storyteller Audiobook narrator English . French . German
Elisabeth Lagelée "a hint of elsewhere"
I'm not the girl next door
My voice will take you places! I am an audiobook narrator and VO actor bilingual in English and Paris French (native), fluent in German and with conversational Japanese. My voice is expressive and playful with a hint of elsewhere in the accent, ideal for bringing far-off places - or worlds - to life. Over 50 audiobooks narrated and produced from my San Francisco home studio!
...on a cozy couch in the Fifth district of Paris. Every night I would lay huddled with my younger siblings reading to them way past our bedtime. Nothing could equal the sense of accomplishment and connection I got when bringing these stories to life for them and creating distinct voices for each character - to the endless delight of my exacting audience.
Thanks to my French-American upbringing I have always been able totransition fluidly between English and Paris French and have developed an aptitude for other languages and dialects. I am fluent in German and know "kawai" Japanese (enough to get through most social encounters with a lot of clapping and read ひらがな). Through my business studies and seven years as marketing manager for a beauty startup, I have lived in Nice, New York, Mannheim, Nagoya and Tokyo which has opened me to different ways of thinking and being. In 2014, storytelling and multi-culturalism started weaving together. After two years performing with the Alec Bartus theater Company in Paris, I moved to San Francisco where I joined the Leela improv Co. There, my childhood sense of play and adventure rekindled and I yearned to share this again through the power of books... Fast forward to today, I have recorded over 50 audiobooks in various genres - in both English and French - and coach with Emily Lawrence and Gabra Zackman. I feel especially at home in the company of spirited young women, sarcastic witches and playful demons that entice listeners beyond the scope of their daily lives and inspire them to embrace the unfamiliar...
“Elisabeth Lagelee's narration is excellent. She has an unusual but memorable voice with a slight accent that adds to the make-believe aspect of the story...”
Oh, and I also capture fantasy in everyday life :)
